WenZhou Yongning Academy / AAI.LifeWay studio

Hình ảnh
This old building in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties has been in disrepair for a long time. The mottled bricks and broken walls show its old age. Due to the function and actual protection needs, the condition that the old building must be placed at the second-floor height undoubtedly increases the difficulty of design and implementation. However, the designers gave a satisfactory answer: they completed the crossing of several hundred years in the new and old space, carried the space theme of “let Wenzhou return to Wenzhou”, and make the old buildings knowable, perceptible and usable. This is the place spirit conveyed by Yongning Academy. http://dlvr.it/Rylw48

Brick Screen House / MS DESIGN STUDIO

Hình ảnh
A house should reflect the taste and the personality of its owner as well as the ability of the architects to make the whole come together and form a space fit for its occupants and its context. And that’s the philosophy we followed while designing this residence. The house follows a subtle Indian and earthy aesthetic as per the client’s taste, and has been designed keeping in mind the climatic conditions of the place. http://dlvr.it/Rygxb4

Jinjiang District Yucheng Street Renovation / Fanzhu Design

Hình ảnh
Project Brief. Sino-Ocean Taikoo Li Chengdu is the most important commercial complex in Chengdu, and also a very representative open commercial block in China. Since its opening in 2014, it has become a shopping and fashion landmark in Chengdu. The project base "Yucheng Street" is located in the southeast of Taikoo Li. It is about 150 meters long, 5.1 meters at the narrowest point and 7.4 meters at the widest point. Before the renovation, Yucheng Street was separated from Taikoo Li by a section of the wall. For many years, one side of the wall has been the busiest commercial street in the city, and the other side is the old residential quarters and scattered small shops. http://dlvr.it/RygxZN

The house, nestled in an acre of grid planted mango trees, was to serve as a secluded retirement home for a couple, away from the chaotic city life. None of the existing twenty year old mango trees were removed. Instead, the house weaves itself around these trees, creating a multitude of experiences. http://dlvr.it/Rybzfg

Pardis Kahneh Apartments Building / Keivani Architects

Hình ảnh
Pardis Khane is a private residential project having 5 stories above ground devoted to 10 units of 120 and 130 square meters. The building has 3 floors below ground. There is a watchman room in first basement and also two levels for parking area. The sport facilities like the swimming pool, Jacuzzi and gym are located in the third basement. http://dlvr.it/RybzWS

Pully House / LOCALARCHITECTURE

Hình ảnh
Located in a residential area close to Lausanne and Lake Geneva, this plot was previously occupied by an urban villa comprising two apartments, which was demolished. This new residential building houses three apartments, including a triplex apartment intended for the owner, thanks to its optimal use of form and building regulation compliance. These regulations specify ceiling heights and permit an attic, interpreted formally here to add a storey and therefore gain additional living space. The rounded form is a reaction to the motley, mediocre context of this residential district on the periphery of Lausanne. http://dlvr.it/RyZ1P6

A rebuilt 3 storey Row-house to be a family residence and retail. The building is divided into 2 sub-buildings, the front part next to the street as a pharmacy and the back part as residential area. Due to its building type, the layout is flanked with adjacent buildings therefore the house is designed to have courtyard with skylight in between 2 sub-buildings to provide daylight access and completely separate the commercial area from the residence. http://dlvr.it/RyX5sS

Ex Richaud Factory House / Richaud Arquitectura

Hình ảnh
The old factory of “Galletas Richaud Hermanos” was located in the San Román neighborhood, in the City of San Francisco de Campeche until the mid-'60s. Then it became the family residence until 1981 when it was abandoned; the original sign is still legible today. In 1989, a 619 sq. meter section of the property with access from another road was used to build a house for one of the family members. It is this same family that has recovered a 277 sq. meter addition using part of the original façade of the factory. The unbeneficial relationship of the preexisting Colonial building and the residence from the ‘80s generates the search for a meeting point; the dining room is remodeled, extended and opened, for a continuous relationship with the garden that they now share. http://dlvr.it/RyVF0w

Buddha Artist's Exhibition Space and Studio, THE FIELD / TEAM_BLDG

Hình ảnh
Background Located in Huli District, Xiamen City, at the former site of an aluminum factory, the building was originally a public bath of the factory. In 2019, it was partially renovated after the aluminum factory was transformed into a creative office park with multiple businesses. TEAM BLDG was asked by Buddha artist Jiang Sheng, to transform the public bath into a new studio and exhibition space called ‘the field’. The Chinese name of The Field is called "Ji Le Chang", which is derived Buddhism, meaning the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss or Sukhavati, but "THE FIELD" is not intended to be an isolated pure land. The owner hopes to separate the concept of "isolated and unreachable" and create an appealing spiritual place. http://dlvr.it/RySJ6Q

Recent buildings in Tehran are expanding without observing specific principles and criteria, which has caused chaos and disorder in the city. buildings are part of the generalities of the city that the systematic and continuous structure of each building in the region has a great impact on improving the quality of readability of the city in the minds of the people. ‏The project is located in the area of Sohrevardi and Malek streets in Tehran. Terra Bean to Bar / Soar Design Studio

Hình ảnh
Terra is a chocolate specialty store. The chef travels around the world to search for all kinds of cocoa beans, from South America, India to Asia and other places. "From bean to bar" is the brand's purpose, allowing customers to taste the most original flavor of cocoa at the beginning, and to enjoy its derivative desserts and drinks or chocolate liquor and other products. Dismantling and exploring the essence of chocolate desserts and drinks is actually "experiencing nature". We turn cocoa beans, the fruit of nature, into various foods. The taste of the fruits produced in different countries and regions vary, reflecting the difference in climate and soil, sunshine and other natural factors. In addition, in the interview with the owner, the owner reflected his experience in the agricultural technology teaching group in Central and South America and living in the forest. These all induced our hope that the design of this room can be more "natural". http:

Villa Accenti / Iscattolin

Hình ảnh
The Villa Accenti building is a barchessa dating to the late nineteenth century which originally was part of a bigger real estate structure. It’s situated in a small countryside town next to the city of Castelfranco Veneto and it’s an example of rural architecture at the service of agricultural activity. The project consists of the revitalization of the complex, which was long abandoned, through the design of eight residential units, also developing the design of the interiors, in particular the living areas.  http://dlvr.it/RyLSDY

Lost & Found OōEli Store / B.L.U.E Architecture Studio

Hình ảnh
Lost & Found’s OōEli store in Hangzhou is B.L.U.E.’s second cooperation with the furniture brand ‘Lost & Found’ after the renovation project for the brand at Guozijian Street in Beijing. Designed by Renzo Piano, OōEli in Hangzhou is a comprehensive art park incorporating offices, art spaces, retail, design hotels and show fields. Lost & Found is a lifestyle brand that provides not only solid wood furniture but also ceramics, utensils, fabrics and plants for daily life. During this collaboration, we continues to bring the concept and sense of ‘home’ into the store, echoing a way of life that cherishes things in daily life. The spatial design revolves around materiality of the interior, natural texture and artisan craftsmanship, reflecting Lost & Found’s philosophy of art and daily life. http://dlvr.it/RyGsD0

Prebarco House / 2DM

The house commissioned by a young couple, whose only required condition is to get a view of the sea, suggested a formal challenge that involved the generation of a compact volume and at the same time tensed by this view, achieving the depth of the landscape in a single look. http://dlvr.it/RyDvvv

FU-House / Kubota Architect Atelier

Shunan City, Yamaguchi is one of a series of industrial zones situated around the Seto Inland Sea, where the coastline bristles with industrial complexes. Having been raised in the area, the glaring metal tanks and the fierce fire tearing through the dark night are familiar sights for me. It is a surreal and abstract world. Which gives us a glimpse of the future glimmering with hope for the coming of a new era. The project site is located less than a kilo-meter away from Seto Inland Sea. http://dlvr.it/RyBt3k

Zenstay Boutique Hotel / Zen-In Architects

Hình ảnh
Zenstay Hotel is the ideal home for a post-80s couple on the eastern end of mainland China, originally a stone house on a hillside in the middle of the island. Sitting and watching the tides rise and fall, and weathered by the elements, the stone house has contributed to the rustic island culture and the beauty of the years. The "local dwelling" and "natural texture" are the entry points for the design of the Zenstay Hotel. http://dlvr.it/Ry6s36

Al Fay Park / SLA

Hình ảnh
With its innovative biodiversity, microclimate, and social activities, Al Fay Park is a paradigm shift in how to design and implement nature in the dense megacities of the Middle East. The park is designed by Danish nature-design stars SLA. A new kind of urban nature park has seen the light of day in Abu Dhabi. Gone are the water-consuming and soulless ‘Las Vegas landscapes’ of the past. Enter Al Fay Park – a new 27,500 m2 public park in downtown Abu Dhabi that signals a new kind of Middle Eastern city development: Driven by inclusive nature rather than iconic buildings. http://dlvr.it/Ry6ryt

House in Uehonmachi / FujiwaraMuro Architects

Hình ảnh
This residence sits on a long, narrow property in urban Osaka that will likely become increasingly hemmed in by high-rise buildings in the future. SL House / bwa

Hình ảnh
This new house is located within one of Canberra’s most strongly landscape suburbs – Aranda. The suburb is characterized by mature native Eucalypts and Acacias which are prevalent as street trees, parkland plantings and adjacent public reserve. The house comprises 3 bedrooms, kitchen/dining/living space, wet areas, and garage. The primary parti of the project is to establish an internal living environment that embraces the views and textural qualities offered by the strong landscape setting – this strategy has driven internal planning decisions and resultant building form. http://dlvr.it/Ry2r46

Architectural Rendering and the Slippery Slope of the Uncanny Valley

Hình ảnh
Fifty-one years ago, in 1970, a Japanese roboticist named Masahiro Mori came up with the concept of the “Uncanny Valley”. Around the same time, architectural renderings done using analog methods were still in vogue – collages and photomontages used to get ideas across to clients. A decade later, personal computers came along, and that saw the emergence of CAD and the wider adoption of digital rendering. Today’s architectural renderings are almost imperceptible from reality, with the increase in sophistication of rendering sofware. We struggle to tell the difference between what is a rendering and what is not – or rather we are able to tell a slight difference and it leaves us slightly uncomfortable, which brings us to Mori’s uncanny valley. http://dlvr.it/RxxCmZ

House 24 / Park + Associates

Hình ảnh
In a usual circumstance, the front of the house is the most important - not in our case. House 24 is sited on a triangular plot, a constraint that we took on as an opportunity to really engage with the siting and planning of the house - to achieve a meaningful footprint that actualised the client’s spatial, functional, and privacy requirement. Moreover, the site adjoins a lushly landscaped state land that we endeavoured to take advantage of at every available opportunity and every habitable space. http://dlvr.it/RxvtBK

Juniper House / Murman Arkitekter

The house is barely visible, like a mirror of its own surroundings. http://dlvr.it/Rxvt9f

"Because you Know Yourself Better, you Observe Things Deeper": In Conversation with Anupama Kundoo

Hình ảnh
In Louisiana Channel's latest interview, Indian architect Anupama Kundoo shares her thoughts on the importance of balancing between traveling and being in solitude with oneself. "I think travel is important, but if you're not rooted yourself, you will go to a hundred places and not see anything", explained the architect, "traveling helps you step back from what you take for granted". http://dlvr.it/RxtSX3

Extraordinary Ordinary House / Love Architecture

Hình ảnh
This residence in central Tokyo is the second of two houses located a minute’s walk from one another, both occupied on a routine basis by the client. The client’s sole request was that we create a modern space made up of elements lacking in the first house. This explains the rather unusual plan: a rec room and wine cave in the basement, a garage and lounge on the first floor, a space for entertaining on the second, and walk-in closets on the third. http://dlvr.it/Rxs5Ww

Temporary Chapel Alhambra's Cross / Colab-19 + Sociedad Colombiana de Arquitectos

Hình ảnh
The people of the Colombian capital saw themselves losing hope in the idea of in-person Easter celebrations as the prospects of a third wave of Covid-19 cases intensified. Colombian culture at large is fundamentally religious, and social distancing measures in response to the pandemic have affected the religious community in particular with the prohibition of large congregations. Believers have seen themselves disconnected from their faith and churches have gone into economic crisis.  http://dlvr.it/Rxs5VW

"The House is the Most Flexible Space Ever": Interview with Pippo Ciorra and André Tavares

Hình ảnh
"The house is among the first concepts shared by society and architecture", states André Tavares and Pippo Ciorra, curators of the exhibition called At Home: Projects for Contemporary Housing, on display at Garagem Sul / Centro Cultural Belém, in Lisbon. The show, which is the unfolding of another one previously held at the MAXXI Museum in Rome, gathers pieces from the huge collection of the Italian institution and seeks intersections with contemporary Portuguese architectural production. Its main topic – the house, the home – has never been more discussed than right now. http://dlvr.it/RxqVYn

Kindergarten in Saarbruecken / NKBAK

Hình ảnh
The special thing about the planning for the kindergarten in Saarbruecken was that it is a building for children. That sounds simple, but such a task is always a challenge because you can't coordinate with the actual users during the planning and construction period. So it means putting yourself in the shoes of a child again and taking on their perspective when designing the rooms. This is very exciting, because children naturally do not waste any thought on DIN standards, administrative regulations, and the like, and we as architects are required not to let these thoughts come to the fore. Our goal was therefore to create a place where everyone can feel welcome. http://dlvr.it/Rxncxj
