The phrase “tiny home” or “tiny lot” tends to bring to mind properties with narrow frontages. In the densely developed districts of Osaka, this type of long, narrow property is common, and houses are often built so close together a person can’t even fit between them. However, in Osaka, building coverage area (BCA) and floor-area ratio (FAR) regulations are lenient, allowing for a relatively large percentage of a given property to be built up. By contrast, in the Shukugawa district of Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture (just west of Osaka), BCA is limited to 40 percent and FAR to 100 percent; height is also restricted. http://dlvr.it/S0l6ll

As the south extension of the city, the traffic of Yizhou Avenue is efficient. In this district, identical buildings and roads form the so-called new urban landscape, however, decrease the warmth and narrative of the traditional Chengdu lifestyle. This project locates miles away from downtown, away from hustle and bustle of the city. How would this new hotel develop with a busy street just next door while an old community on the other side? Even as a temporary residence, this place could definitely release the fatigue of travelers. Visual design is in second place here, and the living experience is significant improved by the consideration of functional settings. This is a site office of a real estate development where visitors can familiarise themselves with the salient features of the premium Apartment scheme. The project of the Laayoune Technology School in Morocco is part of the decentralization policy of universities centers in the different regions of the country. The program consists on teaching spaces(classrooms, workshops, amphitheater), library, administrative offices, teacher’s offices and services (maintenance spaces, staff accommodation etc.). The site, quite away from the city center, generated a need of “urbanity” through an organization around an axial scheme, and thus providing a comprehensive and clear reading and at the same time a diversity of ambiences.  http://dlvr.it/S0hY6j

The building is a multifunctional sports hall built as a development project of the UTE Sports Complex. At the beginning of the design process, already taking part in the programming, our goal was, on the one hand, to make as a universal a spatial structure for the building as possible – so that it could accommodate various events. On the other hand, we aimed at creating a built environment with a strong atmosphere worthy of the past of the prestigious club. The hall was built in the middle of the sports complex, where no morphological associations were provided by the site. As a result of this situation, the building was formed along the architectural logic evolving from its own spatial structure. The interior design project for a Chinese restaurant recently opened in the new shopping mall located just in front of Matsuiyamate Station in Kyo-tanabe City, Kyoto. The design concept of the shopping mall is “the garden of the town.” The passage garden in the shopping mall is designed to create the continuity to the town, and it will be filled with greens in the future so the garden will be the forest that connects people with the town. http://dlvr.it/S0f9Mj

A vault is a constructive technique that is achieved by compressing the materials forming it together. While this technique has existed since the time of the ancient Romans, certain types of vaulted ceilings, such as the Catalan or Valencian timbral vault, only reached popularity in some areas of the world at the start of the 19th century thanks to their lost cost and ready availability. With the ability to span over 30 meters and add substantial height to structures, vaulted ceilings became a go-to for the construction of industrial spaces such as workshops, factories, and warehouses. http://dlvr.it/S0cy6t

The new entrance plaza in front of La Pau School gives new life to a degraded and disused space by naturalising it and creating a comfortable place in continuity with the school playground and the access points to the educational centre. Due to its specific characteristics, the architecture of the sauna is interesting because it gives us lessons related to efficiency and the beauty of simplicity. These are generally very basic structures with a clear function, created to contain different levels of heat and humidity. Thanks to this steam bath, people can release toxins and improve their blood circulation. In the beginning, the architect received the original commission to design a 300-square-meter public building for facilitating the county’s culture and art education in Xiuwu, Henan. However, considering the vast serving area (630-square-kilometer county area) and the difficulty of traveling between scattered villages, the architect came up with a proposal to divide one building into a series of miniature facilities in different locations so as to better serve local communities. These cast-in-place concrete miniatures are interpreted into a series of tree-shaped spaces with tentacles reaching out for the sky, bathing in light and shadow. Their locations vary from fields, woods, to mountaintops, and their forms differ as well: while one grows out from the ruined walls in an abandoned village, another embodies a floating theater on the water. Located on a corner lot, in front of a historic school, and with a lot of exposure, we sought to protect the house from the outside and open it completely to the inside. It was planned on two levels, a ground floor for the social area and an upper floor for the private area. http://dlvr.it/S0V9kH

Reflecting on the future of shopping centres and addressing their decline in visitors, MVRDV's Heuvelkwartier design proposes converting Eindhoven's Heuvel shopping venue into a green cultural quarter. The project brings together retail, culture and recreation, expanding the existing buildings while transforming the roofs into a park. There is a 99-years-old abandoned Sanheyuan on the site and it will be demolished for a new residential project shortly. We were asked to design a temporary reception center before the construction of the new residential project. We decided to keep the Sanheyuan as part of the spatial design experiment for the reception center and also can be seen as a farewell exhibition for the 99-years-old house. http://dlvr.it/S0H0km

The Museum of Outdoor Arts Element House is a structural insulated panel (SIPS) modular building designed to operate independently of public utilities by integrating passive systems and on-site energy-generation. Located in the bustling city of Kolkata, Navyom is a minimalistic pavilion developed on its remediated site. The site, once a waste yard, includes two large banyan trees that become the determinant of the design. The Silo is part of the transformation of Copenhagen’s Nordhavn (North Harbour) – a vast post-industrial development, currently being transformed into a new city district. Designed by Danish architects COBE with clients Klaus Kastbjerg and NRE Denmark, a 17-storey former grain silo and the largest industrial building in the area has been transformed into “The Silo”, housing residential apartments and public functions. http://dlvr.it/S0CvVH

Maison Sous La Falaise is the result of a very tight collaboration between architect Pierre Minassian and the future occupants of the house. It is located in an exceptional environment, at the foot of the Salève mountain in the French Alps. Thrilled with the beach town location of their summer house in the Los Angeles area, but not with its loud ’90s-era architecture, a family of four approached Blue Truck Studio with a directive — tone it down. What they had: a house with wild geometry, such as octagon-shaped rooms and triangular spaces. This video uses the architect character from the movie Indecent Proposal — named David Murphy and played by Woody Harrelson — to offer professional practice tips. David Murphy engages in a series of risky business practices and repeatedly makes decisions that lead to glaring firm mismanagement. However, his most egregious oversight, and the real ‘indecent proposal’ is meeting a billionaire without cultivating him as a client. This error in judgement leads the wealthy businessman, played by Robert Redford, to purchase Murphy’s design right out from under him. The project reflects on the identity of Argentine public housing and the role collective housing, both public and private, has played in the country's history and society. The Infinite House aims to push the limits of the domestic and to highlight the importance of the collective rather than the individual by illustrating that a home extends beyond one's own living space: "it is the city, the country, and even the world." http://dlvr.it/S0835J

Set in a magical setting in the hills of Byron Bay the house has an extraordinary view of the sea and sky, and sits in a private rural and rainforest setting. All seasons of nature are observed firsthand by this house on the hill. The owners are very interested in the philosophy of Indigenous peoples and these philosophies are reflected in the design. The DNA of Murillo Housing originated in its implementation. The challenge of this project was to position five 200m2 duplex houses in a lot while imposing minimal interference with its existing wooded surroundings thus maximizing its harmony with nature. A major priority in this project was to keep majestic trees adjacent to each house. After additional studies on flow and natural illumination, we concluded that we could reach our objective by designing a cross shape plan accurately positioned in the terrain. The Loreto Open Community project is the winning proposal of the competition organized by the Municipality of Milan to redesign Piazzale Loreto, now a crowded traffic junction. This is a very special house, not least because of its remarkable location, but also because of its high ethics in terms of sustainability and the extension of these principles into the treatment of not only the landscape but the animals that inhabit that landscape. It is set amongst subtropical rainforest, rugged escarpments and low-density rural properties in New South Wales. The project is a pediatric dental & orthodontic clinic located in Saitama, Japan. The area around the site has been largely occupied by zelkova trees for centuries, some of which still remains in the garden of the client. There stand residential properties and dentistry the client’s family has run for last 60 years surrounded by the greenery. The existing clinic mainly offers regular dental care while it occasionally treats orthodontic and pediatric patients. “Life on the Tree” is envisaged as a young girl’s dreams manifesto whose childhood was spent climbing trees and branches in an old masonry house. OMA New York / Jason Long has revealed the design for The Terminal, a new performance venue serving as a cultural anchor for POST Houston, the office's redevelopment of the historic Barbara Jordan Post Office in downtown Houston. The Todoroki Ravine is a windy location. Running through a dense urban forest, the air provided near the ground is humid while dry winds constantly blow up towards the sky. Clear Rock Lookout is a raw steel hunting blind, writing studio, and observation deck that celebrates the stunning landscape and wildlife views. The 450sf building is nestled below a limestone cliff edge, and has to be “discovered” when approached from the top of the mesa. The renovation of Liangshu Art Museum locates in a historical landscape zone of Nanchang, cohering the Chinese garden and the city. Upon completion, Liangshu Art Museum becomes a public facade of the city, as well as an important context of citizens’ leisure activities. The original building was a tea house of the Bayi Park for years. Although its exterior component suffered different degrees of damages after years of usage and vacancy, you could still easily find its elegant physical temperament from the past. http://dlvr.it/RzjYGK

House in Los Angeles 1 is a multifaceted art studio and residential compound for a pair of professional visual artists, a painter, and a photographer. The project comprises an addition to the clients’ existing mid-century home, a guest house that provides studio space for their work, and dedicated structures for exhibitions and events during which guests can move seamlessly between indoor and outdoor space. Situated in the middle of a deep residential block in Los Angeles’s Highland Park neighborhood, the compound’s four structures are joined to the street by a long drive and scatter fluidly across the expansive half-acre hilltop lot, redefining traditionally compact, front-facing suburban architecture across Los Angeles. http://dlvr.it/Rzg69p

We are in a neighborhood of low-density single-family homes that highlight the verticality of the urban trees of the city. The land is unified in the shape of an "L", where the shortest side presents a house and the longest side a service area of the house, each side of the lot responds to different streets and conditions. The land faces North, contains the construction of a quincho - laundry - garage made of exposed bricks, and presents an orange tree and a large palm tree. The meeting point of the two lands is considered as a common and recreational space. We take the longest part of the Land, this sector is detached from the other part by a subdivision given by the Parents to their daughter.
