Architects have a determining responsibility when it comes to building upon the natural environment. The first question we asked when we started this project was: what is it like to design a house on a blank sheet of paper? A land with free space, without close neighbors and without indispensable visuals of the surroundings: what to cling to so that we could create a meaningful project? http://dlvr.it/SQFm0q

The house is located in an industrial warehouse and is developed at two heights. The project does not vary the volume, it focuses on an interior intervention.  http://dlvr.it/SQFFLl

The school is in Igualada, a small inland city in Catalonia. It has a slightly more humid and colder climate than litoral cities. Enric Miralles is buried there. The river Anoia passes around it. A big textile and tannery industry was developed in the XIXth century by the river, bringing with it prosperity and population growth. Approaching Centered Home from the street, a dense screen of San Pedro cacti makes way for a minimalist rectilinear form clad in charred shou sugi ban rain screen siding, standing in contrast to the landscape’s polychromatic lushness. Informed by a balance of meditative solitude and exuberant communal living, the home is designed as a series of nested conditions organized concentrically: an interior “cube,” within a mediating shell of space for communal activities, within the perimeter of the landscape. Just a seven-minute walk from the center of Temuco is the main entrance of Cerro Ñielol through Prat street. This axis links the foot of the hill to the other edge of the city, the Cautín River. In Chile, there are only seventeen declared natural monuments and one of them is the Ñielol hill. The ascent to the hill starts subtly by a winding path that follows the contour lines of the existing topography. This path formed by the density of shade from the foliage of native trees is suddenly illuminated by rays of light and landscape windows looking out over the city of Temuco. http://dlvr.it/SQCW4r

Oslotre AS is pleased to present St. Olavsvei 18, the first residential CLT project in Kristiansand, Norway. The 5 stories densification project is situated within the center of Kristiansand and the building offers apartments aimed at first-time buyers. Most of the 28 apartments are no more than 40m2, but while modest in size the apartments are high in quality. http://dlvr.it/SQB52G

The plot in the center of which stood a small, one-story house built in the early 80s was buried in thick and wild vegetation. when Darchitecture approached the project the first thing that was clear to them was the fact that the surrounding vegetation and nature would be an essential part of the home design. The house was completely demolished except for the structural pillars and the roof. All the outer Facades and the inner spaces were completely redesigned. http://dlvr.it/SQ9b29

On the 5th of May, the first edition of Model. Festival of Architecture of Barcelona was inaugurated. Nestled in Quebec's Laurentian forest, this residence is a composition of volumes with soothing and balanced proportions which, on winter nights, sparkles through the woods like a guiding lantern. On Bordeaux’ Rive Droite, along the Garonne River, JA designed a new residential complex as part of the larger redevelopment area Bastide-Niel, designed by MVRDV with JA. The project is located facing a new park of Michel Desvigne along the river and offers views from a maximum height of 10 floors towards the UNESCO heritage old city of Bordeaux. http://dlvr.it/SQ5MbQ

Located about 6.5km from the city centre, the middle-ring of suburb of Tarragindi contains mainly 1950-60s asbestos-clad post-war housing built on large lots. Pre-1946 housing stock in the Brisbane inner-city generally can't be demolished, so developers have moved to this middle ring of suburbs taking advantage of the opportunity to infill and densify. The client, who is not a developer, wanted to try their hand at an infill project as an investment opportunity. Admirably, they were happy to take a different approach to the cookie-cutter McMansion-type infill typical of the area. One that could be simple, repeatable, prioritise landscape, and give future owners the opportunity to adapt. http://dlvr.it/SQ4H1q

The new Repentigny Theatre is the result of an architectural competition aimed at offering patrons a variable configuration room with 350 seats for various cultural activities, while also providing a prominent space for classical music. The new kindergarten is situated on the edge of the urban center, where the town and the countryside come together. In a place where the industrial past is still present in the collective memory, and where some old facilities remain. A series of volumes, almost elementary, are connected as if they were the wood houses in a nearby “rueiro” evoking the woodworking tradition of the area. http://dlvr.it/SQ2Mvx

House C-VL – an original take on a bungalow renovation. In renovating this 1960s-era bungalow, certain areas in the house were kept undefined. This left a lot of room for the personal interpretation of the residents, so that the house came to life very spontaneously. Three squares. A living space that could be doubled at maximum, a deep, narrow lot and an uninspiring original construction: those were the raw ingredients for the renovation of this bungalow. http://dlvr.it/SQ1nyg

Set on the ridgeline of the Sahyadri hills, this holiday home overlooks the dramatic western ghats. This linear house is laid out along a 75 m long north-south axis facing the valley view. The 75 m long solid western wall is clad in copper slate stone that shimmers in the western setting sun. The robust wall protects the house from the westerly winds and rain; making the eastern facing decks habitable all year round. Two distinct east-facing building volumes are separated by the infinity pool and garden. http://dlvr.it/SQ0pGl

The building rises over a trapezoid plot that is 8 m wide at the front and 4 m wide at the back. The 50 m length allowed us to create a large open patio that separates two built blocks, which could then have 4 facades of similar quality. The bedrooms of all the apartments receive light and ventilation from this north-facing trapezoid patio. http://dlvr.it/SQ0pGg

A small residence is inserted with originality among the houses overlooking the Brussel-Scheldt Maritime canal that splits the small town of Humbeek, part of the municipality of Grimbergen, in the province of Flemish Brabant in Belgium. In emphasizing the relationship with the canal, the project of this house draws upon an original spatial configuration based on the definition of a new relationship between the inside and outside. http://dlvr.it/SPzS38

Deep Bar is a two-story venue in Dnipro city that unites a bar with a floristic shop and a tiny cafe. A small hall on the first floor has showcase windows that overlook one of the central streets. The flower shop with a few coffee tables locates there. In the big transparent fridge, you can see flowers side by side with wine bottles. The first floor works as the entering hall that leads to the body part of the venue in a roomy basement space. http://dlvr.it/SPzS0F

Located at Largo do Intendente 57, this renovation project gave the building back its residential use, ensuring a more permanent one which contributed to the revitalization of this neighborhood. Prominently located on the corner of Havemeyer & Grand Streets in South Williamsburg, commoncraft’s second collaboration with For All Things Good plays off many of the design concepts originally developed at the Bed-Stuy location.  Guests are greeted by a muted color palette, composed of a careful balance of warm woods and natural tones.  http://dlvr.it/SPyWCB

The house is located at the bottom of a mountain. The site has a narrow frontage and a wide back(trapezoid shape). To design a house on such a unique site, we carefully surveyed the nature and surroundings. We then, chose a shape as if it was carved from the terrain. One of the elements of most affinity between architecture and cinema is the scenographic project. The set designer, like the architect, starts from a concept to create spaces with a purpose. The architect designs spaces for living and the set designer designs spaces for storytelling. The house is located 30km from the city of Mendoza. In La Crucesita, the town of Las Compuertas is at the foot of the first hills of the foothills. Topography and vegetation activate the site in such a way that a new soil emerges above the rugged terrain and native vegetation. The platform forms the tectonic basement in the form of an elevated terrace. The implantation is oriented on the steep slopes in a south-north direction and on the 16m long by 4m wide base rises the stereotomic shed delimited by the radiant slab. http://dlvr.it/SPwDL6

Improving people's quality of life is one of the biggest goals of professionals in Architecture and Urbanism. When planning cities, creating housing or carrying out a simple refurbishment, we seek to improve the built space regardless of scale. The Urban Rehabilitation of Alto de Bomba, carried out in the city of Mindelo, Cape Verde, arose from the need to combat the precariousness found previously in the place. A project that required the immersion of the team in the daily life of the city and resulted in an inspiring proof of how much architecture can reveal better ways of living the city and acting directly in society. The sports hall is located in the small town of Nový Hrozenkov, nested in the valley of the Bečva River, which flows through the Vallachian landscape in the eastern corner of Czechia. The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has announced the winning projects for the 2022 RIBA London architecture awards. The list of 42 buildings includes projects ranging from a sustainable council housing development to a cookery school for children, showcasing the best architectural interventions in London over the past two years. The projects were selected by a regional jury, who visited all 66 shortlisted projects. When browsing the 3D printing tag on ArchDaily, it is clear that this technology has developed at an incredibly fast pace. If in the early years we observed the concept as a distant possibility for the future or with small-scale examples, in recent years we have observed entire printed buildings and increasingly complex volumes being produced. Developed by reading a computer file, the fabrication is carried out through additive manufacturing with concrete - or other construction materials - and presents numerous difficulties in providing an efficient process that enables the constructive technique to become widespread. Architect Mariam Kamara—founder of Niamey, Niger-based firm Atelier Masōmī—is a contrarian of design pedagogy as it is largely practiced today. To Kamara, modern is not synonymous with European forms, architecture is not only for Westerners to define, and the so-called canon of great buildings actually ignores most of the built world. A Family Retreat in Rural Ontario. The clients for this project live abroad and sought a Canadian homestead — an anchor — for their large, young family. During the summer and winter holidays, the parents wanted their children immersed in an Ontario landscape like the one in which they were raised. The site is located below the eastern foot of Gyeryongsan Mountain in Daejeon, South Korea. Adjacent to the site where the mountains and plains meet, the entrance to the old trail is located.
