11-1studio / Yosuke SAGOSHI Atelier

Hình ảnh
1. Outline/11-1studio. It is a renovation project of the ground floor (factory, office, garage) of the steel-framed three-story building, which was a factory and residence in a corner of the factory district in Ikebukuro, TOKYO, into a small complex consisting of an architect office, a share-workshop, and a share-cafe. And the architect himself will live in and operate it with the concept of "alternatives to be shown in the future of regional commerce and industry". http://dlvr.it/SLb9Cq

PALMS Headquarters / KM 429 architecture

Figuring a new company office is not such an easy excise to solve. Many variables contribute to the design of a project that doesn’t represent just a place to work, but a place where people spend most of the day. http://dlvr.it/SLZdgW

A Ciel Ouvert Housing Complex / Christophe Rousselle Architecte

Hình ảnh
Located in the central lot of Zac Chandon-République Gennevilliers, the 91-unit mixed-housing project faces the park. The orthogonal plan adopts a relatively simple and sober organization that gives a particular identity to the place, dividing the project into six volumes of different heights, linked together by glass walkways. The roof of the buildings was conceived in order to preserve unobstructed views so that the apartments have a visual connection to the park located in the center of the block. http://dlvr.it/SLZHzT

National Aviation Museum of Korea / Haeahn Architecture

Hình ảnh
The National Aviation Museum, located in Gimpo Airport which is preparing to become an airport city, is a multi-cultural space promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport to raise the status of the Korean aviation industry. In order to create a new museum that will become the hall of education, exhibitions, and experiences representing the aviation industry, three ideas that express science, freedom, beauty, and adventure were reflected in the design.  http://dlvr.it/SLYYfX

National Assembly Communication Building / HAEAHN Architecture

Hình ảnh
Making a flexible place for the public purpose: The National Assembly Communication Building to be built in the National Assembly of South Korea area, the cradle of Korean democracy had to be planned as an open place reflecting the pluralistic democratic ideology while embracing the order of the existing components. And, the function of the building to be used by user groups would require not only systematic security systems but also spatial flexibility and expandability. Thus, Haeahn Architecture aimed to build “a flexible building containing open places” where daily life of the public would naturally take place, in addition to the formal monumental nature of the National Assembly area. Implementing a green space open to a flexible area: The site for the project was a green space surrounded by lush trees, about 10~12 meters in height on average. http://dlvr.it/SLXx1T

Stadtelefant City Quarter Building / Franz&Sue

Hình ảnh
Together not everyone for themselves! A shared house, a creative cluster, a place for working, thinking, and networking –and all this right in the middle of the city. A pioneering project: We designed, developed, financed, and built our office building in the Sonnwendviertel ourselves under the umbrella of a limited liability company (GmbH). We love to explore new and unusual paths. Working together as equals and maintaining an intensive exchange of knowledge with others is –we are sure of that –beneficial to all. We live this philosophy at Franz&Sue, in the ‘fight club’ and in our voluntary work in various architectural institutions. http://dlvr.it/SLXglg

ZHA's 'Future Cities' Exhibition Examines the Firm's Innovations in Urban Design

Hình ảnh
'Future Cites' exhibition was recently inaugurated at the Future Design Arts Centre in Chengdu, examining how the work of Zaha Hadid Architects has redefined urban landscapes around the world. The monographic show highlights the trends and innovations shaping contemporary urbanism and traces the ideas and concepts that defined ZHA's body of work. The exhibition displays the office's ongoing research and various urban design approaches, presented through visualizations, architectural models and video projections. http://dlvr.it/SLVyXc

Naked House / XStudio

Hình ảnh
Naked House is located in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, in the historic working-class neighborhood of Guanarteme, which in recent years has become the victim of the unbridled urban growth of the city. This expansion has abruptly transformed the surrounding urban fabric, in which large-scale buildings coexist with humble self-built homes. The project, which is an intervention of one of these old houses, was born as an opportunity to claim another way of living, as an exercise of recovery and enhancing that which already exists and understanding the historical and cultural context in which the original architecture took place as its main asset. http://dlvr.it/SLVPPl

Choice Headquarters / Plan Associates

Hình ảnh
The Choice Headquarters office is located at Amphoe Mueang, Chiang Mai. The area is surrounded with a treasure of culture, especially local Thai architecture elements, such as Long-kao(rice harvest house), Wall of Chiang Mai(such as Suan dok gate), or Thai traditional terrace. These elements are divisibly applied to modern architecture and architecture in nature. The architecture is simply planning and functions; reinforce concrete structure with four floor height. The key is courtyard centered which brings natural sunlight to architecture. http://dlvr.it/SLTZnx

Ladan Shed / Johan Sundberg Arkitektur

Hình ảnh
Tucked in the soft hills of Scania, on the grounds of a historical farm, Johan Sundberg built a little shed: a humble, almost archetypical building, rooted in tradition, at the same time contemporary and refined. The client – Johan Sundberg’s regular customer and a friend – wanted “a funhouse for himself, as well as for bats and insects” on a family-owned property. http://dlvr.it/SLTGzj

Installations on Show: 15 Examples of Applications in Interior Spaces of Homes

Hình ảnh
Pipes, wiring and ducts of different materials in walls, ceilings and roofs make up all the spaces we walk through and inhabit. They represent the set of networks and equipment necessary for the development of life in our buildings, providing services such as water, electricity or gas, among many others. According to the regulations in each country and the use defined in each space, the installations can be left visible, giving a certain character and aesthetic to interior spaces. http://dlvr.it/SLRRHt

Aldapeta María Ikastetxea School / IDOM

Hình ảnh
The Aldapeta María Ikastetxea School, located on Aldapeta Galtzada Street in the City of San Sebastian, is situated on a privately owned plot of land on a headland called Alto de Aiete, from which there are views over La Concha Bay. The project contemplates the execution of a new 18,000 m2 school, which involves the complete substitution of the original school, which dates from the end of the 19th century. The direction in which education is heading requires new appropriate spaces to educate according to new pedagogical methods. The Colegio de Marianistas in San Sebastián aims to implement a new pedagogical model based on modern educational methodologies, in addition to a commitment to information technologies as tools to support education. For this reason, Compañía de María decided to demolish the old school in order to build a new school, adapted to the new tools, which allows maximizing the new educational practices. http://dlvr.it/SLQtJM

Akşemsettin Primary School / Uygur Architects

Hình ảnh
Akşemsettin Primary School is just one of the schools built within the scope of the package project “45 Public Buildings in Istanbul“ designed by Uygur Architects. The schools, which were decided to be demolished and rebuilt in Istanbul within the scope of ISMEP (Istanbul's Seismic Risk Mitigation and Emergency Project), are designed in a unique way in their own context, on the same plot by increasing their capacity. Architects considered this project as an important opportunity for the modernization of the educational spaces. http://dlvr.it/SLQ21N

Edificio Cabrera / Angas Kipa

Hình ảnh
The building is located in the historic center of Chiclayo. It is located on a lot between party walls, 4 meters wide by 27 meters long on average, with access from one street. Nothing could be preserved of the existing adobe construction, which was in a dilapidated state. The tall buildings on each side urged for its demolition and for a new building on the lot. http://dlvr.it/SLPjzP

Casa a Reggio Emilia / Leonardo Peressa

Hình ảnh
Located in a lot just outside the historic center of Reggio Emilia, the building, dating back to the '50s, appeared rather out of place compared to the neighborhood in which it was located. Built in masonry with load-bearing walls, it was easily recognizable by its roof, whose slope was rather unusual for the region, being of a very pronounced angle. http://dlvr.it/SLNTQN

Shigeru Ban Architects Designs Wellness Retreat in Japan

Hình ảnh
Shigeru Ban Architects designed a wellness retreat on Japan’s Awaji Island. The project features a bridge-like wooden structure suspended above the lush landscape, providing visitors with a zen experience. The Vierendeel timber girder allows for a 21-metre span and a significant cantilever on one end of the 90-metre long structure. The Zenbo Seinei retreat, which will focus on meditation and healthy food, is currently under construction and is set to open this spring. http://dlvr.it/SLMvTj

Harris Residence / Studio Acis

Hình ảnh
Experiencing architecture strengthens one's sense of being in the world, as it engages multiple human senses, and essentially becomes an extended experience of the self. Perceiving architecture with more than mere vision allows a deeper sense of connection with the built space, and good design must strive to provide this experience to the visitor. For this residence, it was key that the planning cleared away any feeling of detachment, within or outside the residence. With a transition of uncontrolled to controlled landscape, a second skin encasing the house and tackling the senses, a variety of architectural strategies help remove any feeling of disconnection felt within the space. http://dlvr.it/SLMLGZ

A+A Studio Office / A+A Studio

Hình ảnh
Located in Kuwait City, Architecture & the Arts studio office is set to be a space that encompasses multiple creative functions for the practice of architecture, interior design, and product design. The space acts as an open platform that amplifies the principle of true ‘open space’. Privacy is defined by the materials of each free-standing partition, allowing the user to explore freely and endlessly. With the inspiration of the classics, the architects’ intentions were to create a harmonious combination of natural materials which include oak wood and Italian travertine to juxtapose the stainless steel surfaces. http://dlvr.it/SLLXHM

Casa FC / depaolidefranceschibaldan architetti

Hình ảnh
House FC is located in a residential area protected from vehicular traffic. Its concept derives from a composition of compact volumes that discard and overlap to establish specific relationships with the surrounding context. The base presents a dark aluminum facing, the modularity of which originates all the openings. North it encloses the service spaces, appearing closed and impenetrable. On the other hand, the bright living room opens southward, with large windows facing the grassy garden. http://dlvr.it/SLJyQp

Paris City Council Approves Gustafson Porter + Bowman’s Landscape Plan for the Eiffel Tower Site

Hình ảnh
Paris City Council granted final approval to Gustafson Porter + Bowman's landscape design for the Eiffel Tower site. The project is the result of a 2019 international competition that sought to redesign the 2-kilometre axis leading up to the Eiffel Tower, connecting Place du Trocadéro, Palais de Chaillot, Pont d'Iéna, Champ de Mars and the Military Academy. The landscape plan redefines this iconic green space in Paris by increasing green areas by 35% and adding over 200 new trees, in addition to pedestrianizing the Iena bridge. http://dlvr.it/SLJNP1

Hive House / The Ranch Mine

Hình ảnh
“We believe strongly in togetherness and the breaking of bread with our friends and family. We wish for lots of light, open space, and connection with the outdoors.” This response to a question that architecture firm The Ranch Mine asks every client before starting a project led down the unexpected path of reimagining the classic American Ranch house, a once popular style of house that faded in the late 20th century, for modern living in a new build called ‘Hive’ in Paradise Valley, Arizona. http://dlvr.it/SLGgpC

Losing the Reference: Ideas for Organizing Living Rooms Without a TV

Hình ảnh
In apartments and small houses, the rest and entertainment spaces tend to share the same environment, making the living room fully oriented towards the television. But what to do when television is removed from space? Here are ideas on how to organize the living room without having the television as the main object of the room. http://dlvr.it/SLDptZ

Begonia Inn / atelier mearc

Hình ảnh
The original frame of Begonia Inn is next to a terrace field south side facing the lake, which is in fact, the house owner made use of half of the terrace to build the 'house'. Houses like this are common in the village. The subtle relationship could be read between the buildings, the terraces, and the village. The architectural frame is divided into X-axis and Y-axis from east to west and south to north, representing public and private rooms respectively. Surroundings by the building would be described by such terms as terraces, lakes, trees, parks, etc. Besides the terms, on the X-axis, the limited landscape is segmented by almost total transparent public spaces including the villagers’ houses, unfiltered, and revealing their different natures, in this way, village atmosphere both indoors and outdoors could be felt by living in an urban hotel and experiencing the rural. http://dlvr.it/SLDFx6

Maison New Farm Multi-residential Complex / Graya + Joe Adsett Architects

Hình ảnh
The Iconic Maison New Farm – The Epitome of Living and Breathing Architecture - The concept of Maison was born, and a brief was conceived to deliver something completely innovative to the suburb, some of the main design elements encompassing soft curves, plank form concrete, and a major focus on landscaping. The core focus of Maison was the environment and adding a living, breathing piece of architecture that added significant aesthetic value to the New Farm streetscape. Yes, Maison had to offer residents unrivaled luxury internally, but it also had to give back to the suburb in terms of its presence. http://dlvr.it/SLCSMF

Del Castillo Lookout / Acid consultoría técnica

Hình ảnh
The proposal aimed for a minimum intervention on the ground in the surroundings of the Ermita del Castillo, located in Cerro del Búho de Cabezabellosa, Cáceres province, whose environmental qualities turn the landscape into the main character of the intervention. Under this approach, it was a matter of preserving, consolidating, and ultimately, valuing the natural space and landscape essence. For this reason, the intervention always revealed itself from the minimum aggressiveness and maximum efficiency. Aiming to enhance this powerful setting whose determining factors are the amplitude of the visual field and light quality, without forgetting the variety and richness of the different species, typical of the Mediterranean climate in this location. Among the different biotypes, you can find Oaks, Chestnuts, Holm Oaks or Brooms, and an abundant number of birds of prey, such as vultures, eagles, and hawks, which fly a few meters from our position. http://dlvr.it/SLCBFz

Tegel Quartier / Max Dudler

Hình ảnh
Inspired by legendary Berlin department store architecture, Max Dudler has redesigned the facades for the northern part of the Tegel Quartier. With two staggered tower superstructures and the motif of cascading facade pilasters, the architecture becomes a new focus of attraction for this revitalized pedestrian zone. The project, commissioned by HGHI Holding GmbH, is part of an undertaking that redefines Gorkistrasse – set at the heart of Berlin’s Reinickendorf district – as an urban shopping street. The entire project will reach completion this year, including the southern part, also designed by Max Dudler. Circa two-thirds of the new shops have already opened. The Rautenbach and Pechtold architecture offices have been commissioned with the planning and execution of the interiors. http://dlvr.it/SLBDmg

Community Center of Baishadao Financial Town / URBANUS

Hình ảnh
Located in a new financial town in the suburb of Shenyang, this planned 5,000 square meters community center belongs to a commercial plot that will house 50,000 square meters of future development. Our program research discovered two disadvantages: 1. this newly developing area does not have sufficient population to support large quantities of retails; 2. It is very questionable how to make a typical shopping center competitive. After a discussion with the client, we both agreed that this commercial center should be something special. Thus came the idea of using a botanic garden to energize the space. The client was very much excited about the proposal and commissioned URBANUS to design the entire 50,000 square meters project, rather than a singular community center. After analyzing various potential commercial models in this area, an innovative layout appeared: a greenhouse was employed as the center of all programs to attract visitors and start-up businesses. http://dlvr.it/SL9YFk

AN Amsterdam Office / Studio Noun

Hình ảnh
A transformation of an industrial office building in Amsterdam into an abstract funky space mixed with waves of furry wool and colorful arty interiors. Since I work across art, tapestry, furniture design, interior, and spatial design this space gave room to implement it all. While stripping the existing office building in Amsterdam back to its core the company's corporate identity was translated into a design that oozes a “maximalist bold abstract and modernistic feel”. http://dlvr.it/SL8khT

House for a Photographer / ValArch Atelier

Premek´s land looked like a nice peaceful meadow under the forest but the whole thing looked easier than it actually was. The land lies on the border of the third and fourth zones of the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area. Even though there are original buildings from the 1970s all around, we had to make a great effort to build this house. The orientation of the plot was not quite ideal either but nothing we could not handle. http://dlvr.it/SL7qfZ

Bloomsbury House and Mews / West Architecture

Hình ảnh
On a quiet street in Bloomsbury, this project returns two Grade II listed buildings back to a single house after being used as publishers’ offices since 1974. The project places a room, shared by both buildings, in the reinstated garden. The new element sits on the slab and foundations of a former utility building which was built to serve the offices when they were converted. Demolition of the service building results in the best-preserved window being revealed to the garden and mews for the first time in almost forty years. http://dlvr.it/SL7RP7

Eastern Greater Bay Area Experimental School / CMAD Architects

Beginning. As the imbalance between the surge in education demand and the shortage of land in Shenzhen exacerbates, architectural density has been largely increased in campuses. The buildings of primary and secondary schools in Shenzhen have been growing higher, and in some cases, they have exceeded the height limit of 24 meters. Students are most in need of an environment that allows them to stay close to nature. Under the current educational model, the vertical extension of campus buildings simply cuts off the spatial bond between the campus, the community and the nature. The stressful transformation of campus architecture in a density-oriented manner turns into a growth cage for students. http://dlvr.it/SL6RGt

What Is Ecological Urbanism?

Hình ảnh
According to the architect and researcher Patrícia Akinaga, ecological urbanism emerged at the end of the 20th century as a strategy to create a paradigm shift with regard to the design of cities. With this, urban projects should be designed from the potential and limitations of existing natural resources. Unlike other previous movements, in ecological urbanism architecture is not the structuring element of the city — the landscape itself is. In other words, green areas should not only exist to beautify spaces, but as true engineering artifacts with the potential to dampen, retain and treat rainwater, for example. With ecological urbanism, urban design becomes defined by the natural elements intrinsic to its fabric. http://dlvr.it/SL4Ky9

In recent years, the research environment has become an increasingly diverse landscape, showing growth in collaborations with outside companies such as open labs, cooperative efforts with venture companies, and the outsourcing of research work. More than ever, higher performance and quality environments are required of labs, making it extremely important for research institutes to make connections beyond previous boundaries and with other researchers. http://dlvr.it/SL3KJm

DeCoding Asian Urbanism Grapples with Asia’s Unprecedented Growth

Hình ảnh
As is obvious to anyone with even a passing interest in demographics, cities are becoming denser—much denser. Rural life continues its steady emptying-out as urban life accelerates its explosive filling-in. The tilt has been apparent at least since the middle of the last century when the French geographer Jean Gottmann invented the word “megalopolis” to describe the continuous urbanization from Boston to Washington, D.C., then containing one-fifth of the United States’ population. But nowhere has the shift from countryside to city been more dramatic than in present-day Asia.  http://dlvr.it/SL0fsN

Yutorie Atami House / Naoshi Kondo studio

Hình ảnh
In December 2021, Yutorie Atami opened at Shizuoka, Japan as a gasshukujo, or a “dormitory” in Japanese. It is a renovation project by Naoshi Kondo, the owner, architect, and interior designer – but not the usual gasshukujo nor renovation project you would expect. It embodies the creative attitude of Kondo, who is active in multidisciplinary design fields and always combines a unique sense of humor and edge to his works. He also questions the “renovation design” standards that are thought a means to leave “what was there” in the best way possible. Yutorie’s identity is established through spontaneous traces of intuitive decisions, something that could not be realized within structural creative logic or consideration of necessities, leading to a surprising accumulation of exquisite balance. http://dlvr.it/SKzdPD
