In The Hague’s Wijnhavenkwartier, situated between Central Station and the Spui, next to the new Ministries of Foreign Affairs, on the spot wherein 2007 the Zwarte Madonna residential building was torn down, stand De Kroon, a 131m high rise residential tower including office- and commercial space. The area is bounded on three sides by important traffic arteries: the Turfmarkt, an important pedestrian precinct from Central Station to the center of The Hague, the Schedeldoekshaven, an important traffic connection for cars, busses and trams and the Lage Zand also a tramline. The basic principles of the building design are based on the plot settings of the early American skyscrapers. An important reference for the building was the early high-rise typology of the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th century in Chicago. http://dlvr.it/SJtHv9

Special attention has been given to this small-scale building, designed to house the changing facilities and lavatories of the tennis complex, in order to ensure it harmoniously blends in with its surroundings. This is achieved through a demonstration of the contemporary relevance of half-timbering, a traditional Norman structural principle. This type of construction presents the added benefit of a sustainable reliance on local companies, materials, and skills. Lambeth Civic Quarter is centered around the refurbishment and expansion of the 1908 grade II listed Lambeth Town Hall in Brixton and the construction of an 11,000sqm BREEAM Excellent Civic Centre. In a tour of the layout of Buenos Aires, around 500 passages are distributed throughout the city. Regardless of the neighbourhood in which they are located, they represent postcards of contemporary urban architecture with a tinge of improvisation. Danish gabled roof connects past and future. The brand-new culture house and library is the new living room for the small town of Viby in Denmark. The building is a place for lingering and staying, as well as a shortcut permeating the urban space of the town. This is achieved through a focus on social zones, open architecture, and accessibility. Ren Ren Exhibition Hall—the supporting service room of phase II of Yangpu Riverside public space / Yangpu Riverside people's urban construction exhibition hall, is located in the northwest of "Ren Ren Service Station" in Yangshupu port on the side of Huangpu River. It used to be the former site of China Import& Export Lumber Co. Ltd, which was built in 1902. With a total construction area of 1410 square meters, the architecture is a building with two floors above the ground and one floor underground. The underground floor and the ground floor are concrete structures, and the first floor above is wood structures. The building has an aboveground area of 755 square meters, an underground area of 655 square meters, and a building height of 8 meters. http://dlvr.it/SJn7QY

The project is located on a lot of 303 m2. The main intention of the project was to take advantage of the maximum saleable square meters. This is why the apartments are distributed on all floors, including the ground floor, while leaving space for a parking area too. http://dlvr.it/SJmT3D

Alpine architecture is able to accommodate different materials or architectural languages, despite what is used to believe, but at the same time, the mountain is merciless and always requires the utmost attention to quality because it does not forgive improvised solutions that do not respond effectively to its strength. Located in the center of Barcelona’s beautiful Gracia district, this traditional two-story building houses three contemporary apartments. MoMA is the abbreviation for Museum of Modern Aluminum. The project originated from a group of ambitious clients with the goal of reviving the significance of aluminum in Thailand. Thailand was once the largest aluminum manufacturer in Southeast Asia at the end of the 20th century. Its diverse and abundant aluminum profiles not only satisfied the local market but were once known for exporting to overseas markets. However, the Asian Financial Crisis hit without warning in 1997. This prompted Thailand's aluminum industry to sell aluminum profiles at low prices to hardware markets around the country in order to survive, resulting in the clutters of advertising signs, balcony fences, and ground floor extensions that make up the present-day Bangkok streetscape. http://dlvr.it/SJjGnH

Buromoscow designed the new Terekhovo station of the Big Circle Line of the Moscow metro. Big circle line (BCL) is a core project for the metro network development of the Russian capital. With its 71 kilometers of length and 31 stations, it is the longest circle line in the world. The clients for this project – a couple and their two kids – wanted a single-story house while also retaining as much of their garden as possible on a relatively small block. The design strategy was to remove the old lean-to and add a small 50 m2 extension of connected living spaces, increasing the total footprint of the house by 30 m2, making the most of each space by overlapping functions rather than adding a new room for each.  http://dlvr.it/SJfb0H

The readapted industrial building houses a purpose-designed studio for Australian multi-disciplinary design practice, Smart Design Studio. A mezzanine with four meeting rooms overlooks the light-filled space through the existing slender steel trusses. Pir is located at the harbor front of Ålesund, Norway. In 1904 there was a fire in the city that burned down almost all the wooden buildings. The rebuilding of the city started the year after, and within two years almost the whole city was rebuilt, now in Art Nouveau style with stone, brick, and mortar. Therefore, the city has a consistent architecture today. In Ålesund, the saying is the nicest view is the one you don’t experience because it is the house you are sitting in. In this project, we aimed to emphasize the dynamism of the natural motion of the desert by exploring and highlighting the topography created by its winds, the elements that make it a gift to the senses, its natural form of creating paths and spaces that appear and disappear as in a landscape of surprises, and we did this by keeping true to its nature and cycles. The desert is a land of constant change. Winds and seasons shape and reshape it, transforming its undulations, its reliefs, its fissures, its entire appearance with a single sweep of the wind. In order to emphasize its motion, we worked on a design inspired by these winds. Qionglai is part of Chengdu City, one of the four ancient cities of Bashu. In the development of more than 2,300 years, the city site has not changed, the culture has been passed down, and it is endless. In recent years, Qionglai City has adopted a district development model, taking the Wenmai Lane revival project as a demonstration, and vigorously implementing the urban renewal project. The higher pursuit of art. We are fortunate to build Qionglai's first art museum, Qionglai Art Museum in the city. Because of the unique roof shape, "Chongluan Courtyard" has become the "nickname" we gave to Qionglai Art Museum. The building can be "seen" through the heavy mountain range, and when approaching the building, one can feel the long history when visitors approach the building. A middle-aged couple with two young children asked us for a project. They wanted to live in an open house and, at the same time, feel protected. They wanted the spaces to be integrated, without being overly large. Holloway Li unveils an experience-led showroom and co-working space in Clerkenwell inspired by the lost forms of the Industrial Revolution for bathroom brand Coalbrook. Coalbrook takes its name from the town of Coalbrookdale in the Midlands, the site of the world’s first iron bridge and cradle of the Industrial Revolution. Shangen Village is a renovation project in Wenzhou, dedicated to transforming the once traditionally built village into a tourism destination. SpActrum left the project soon after we proposed the master plan during 2017-2018. The village has been hugely cleaned up since then but has lost some of its ancient ambiance. The once charming chaos has turned into the blankness of purposeful building activity. Casa de Abejas is a single-family home located in the downtown of Mérida, Mexico; a few meters away from the emblematic Paseo de Montejo. The intervention contributes to the conservation of housing uses in the area through the reuse and improvement of existing construction. http://dlvr.it/SJVyHW

The digital learning center for City College Norwich provides space for the college’s technology, engineering, and design courses in one building. The building also forms the landing space and formal entrance to the campus, which has grown over time to become one of the largest colleges in the country for further and higher education. New children’s house inspired by and built in the forest. Right next to a protected forest in Jutland, the Danish architects GinnerupArkitekter have designed a children’s house inspired by the surrounding scenery. An inspiration that has manifested itself in both the specific design of the house and its use of sustainable materials and in the way the architecture supports children's everyday life, both indoors and outdoors. http://dlvr.it/SJTn36

Passing down one of the oldest streets in Rotterdam Kralingen one finds the Hidden House (and garden) located 35 meters down a narrow gravel path, nestled in the lush gardens of the surrounding villas. Built between 1820 and 1840 as the gardener’s quarters of the former Slot Honingen, the dilapidated row house was in need of full renovation and upgrading to modern standards when purchased in 2016. Problems such as rising damp, rotten floor beams, and sagging windows were all addressed using sustainable materials and careful attention to detail. http://dlvr.it/SJTRYg

The Ladhani House is a thoughtful approach towards designing residential spaces for new-age clients. The design of the spaces departs from the ideas which focused on the past characteristics of vernacular Indian households and follows rather a contemporary theme. The design approach of the architects has been to create optimized floor plates with efficient programmatic functioning to achieve maximized height spaces for the small family. The Valley of Palaces and Gardens is located in southwestern Poland, Lower Silesia. The valley has been a popular mountain retreat for centuries. There is also a centuries-old tradition of fish farming. This video explores the case for understanding buildings as non-human creatures. While this might sound absurd at first, the concept has a long history and potentially very positive tangible outcomes. Buildings need to be cultivated like a garden; they require maintenance and care. If they are alive, the need for this care becomes more obvious and second nature. Live like modern Thai........this phrase gave the initial idea for this home design for a family of three, two elderly parents and a working daughter who spent most of her time outside. Urban Radicals is a design collective based in London, founded in 2019 by Era Savvides and Athanasios Varnavas. The practice operates at the intersection of multiple disciplines, exploring public space and the notion of collectivity across a variety of scales, contexts and design expressions. MVRDV founding partner Winy Maas and Theobert van Boven of Van Boven Architecten, two alumni of Gymnasium Beekvliet, are leading the transformation of their former highschool in the Dutch village of Sint-Michielsgestel. In addition to the renovation of the existing building, the design features a flowing, colourful extension accommodating a new auditorium, as well as art and culture facilities providing students with an engaging learning environment. This house is a single-family, detached house of 36pyung Type built-in Ilsan, Gyeonggi province. A young couple decided to move into a quiet, peaceful place from the city for their expected baby. American artist Theaster Gates unveiled his design for the 21st Serpentine Pavilion. Curated for the first time by a non-architect, the 2022 edition named Black Chapel, “will pay homage to British craft and manufacturing traditions”. This compact single-storey office building of a local company has been designed starting from the renovation and the reuse of a centenary wooden house located in Shimada, a village in the Shizuoka Prefecture in the central south coast of Japan.
