Studio McW has completed the extensive refurbishment of a terraced house in Clapham, London, featuring a concrete frame extension. Framework House was designed for a family moving from an apartment who sought to maintain a sense of lateral living. Sui, from the Latin expression Sui Generis, means that which is unique and original, even peculiar. This building was erected in just 20 days on the iconic garden of Palácio das Mangabeiras, in the capital of Minas Gerais, Brazil. There was a reverent respect for the environment as we tried to create a gentle dialogue between what was already there and what was introduced there. The rights to reconstruct Kisho Kurokawa's iconic Nakagin Capsule Tower are currently sold on one of the largest NFT sites. While the tower’s demolition has begun earlier this year, the auction sells the right to rebuild the structure, in both the metaverse and in real space. The idea of recreating the Metabolic building in a virtual space seems natural. It could allow a larger community to explore an iconic piece of architecture and encourage them to experiment with it, an initiative in line with Metabolist ideals. On the other hand, the idea of reconstructing a demolished historical building in the physical world raises a different set of conflicting emotions. A defining feature of the architecture of the Swahili Coast—apart from its coral stone buildings and mangrove poles used to elaborate those structures—is undoubtedly the ornamented door so commonly found across this coastal area. Richly decorated, and historically often layered with meaning, these doors, apart from serving the more utilitarian function of an entrance, were also signifiers of status and wealth. The seven-story office complex EDGE Suedkreuz Berlin was built sustainably using a modular timber hybrid construction method. The larger of the two free-standing buildings covers around 20,000 sqm of floor space, making it the largest wood-hybrid building in Germany. MNLA and their partners have completed the four key projects in the Hudson Square BID’s ten-year, $27M public realm master plan, marked by the recent ribbon cutting on a reconstructed Hudson Street. The design of the UCLA Margo Leavin Graduate Art Studios brings together a community of students and faculty in a space that considers the nature of artistic practice today and anticipates future needs. Inspired by the concept of the urban plan with an orchestrated mix of community spaces and private, domestically scaled neighborhoods of studios, the 48,000 sqft building creates a cohesive space unifying old and new structures to support the full range of activities of the department. Mannheim, a city in southwest Germany, is known for its square-grid layout, its palace, and its city landmark – the Wasserturm (water tower) and its baroque gardens. In the northern part of Mannheim, the city center – interrupted by the Neckar River – borders the districts of Neckarstadt West and East. This direct location on the river has led to the development of a green corridor – the Neckarwiese – as an urban open space, which is used by the city’s citizens for leisure and sports activities. Context: Novopan is the largest melamine board industry in the country. The commission stems from the need to develop a project for new administrative spaces and services for its recently expanded plant. The client had designated an old parking lot on the site of the existing industrial plant for the project in question. A flat piece of land with a small area, which meant developing a building with at least five floors to bring together the extensive required program. Arriving at the site, we identified an opportunity by finding an elongated and irregularly shaped embankment next to the existing factory, which would allow us to develop the same project on only two floors. http://dlvr.it/ScXH29

The Huexotla Day House and Auditorium project is part of the Urban Improvement Program (PMU) 2020 of the Secretariat of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development (SEDATU) whose main objective is to reduce poverty, improve quality of life and strengthen the social fabric in the most disadvantaged areas of the country. Wirkbau Chemnitz is the former largest factory for textile machinery in Germany. It is in the process of being revitalized into a sustainable working community including start-up offices and spaces for production. The heart and center of the whole development is the 1500m2 roof garden on top of an exhibition hall which is accessible 24/7 to the whole community. As early as 1873, the first Protestant school was built on the present Rechenacker site but it was destroyed by a bombing raid in 1943. The area in the district of Oberhausen Styrum was subsequently characterized by various educational institutions. Today the Landwehrschule, built in 1957, as well as the Rechenacker municipal daycare center, built in 1973, are located on the property. After a long tiring search through catalogs for their ideal home, a young family approached Papundekl architects with their vision. They found the layout of the catalog houses impractical and uneconomical. The basic task for the architects was a one-story barrier-free bungalow and a layout with a minimum amount of corridors, all with regard to low overall costs. The architects placed the house in the center of a triangular plot of land at the foot of the Moravian-Silesian Beskydy Mountains. Samudra is located in Akkarai, a coastal suburb of Chennai along the East Coast Road. The city has been growing towards the south with the development of housing, commonly used as second homes. Some of the city residents moved towards the coast for a better quality of life. The pandemic saw a lot more people moving, contributing to the growth of the surrounding neighborhoods. Zvonica House is a reconstruction of a typical Slovak square-shaped house from the 1950s. Over the years, the original house has gradually undergone several renovations, including some non-conceptual extensions. The aim of the current intervention was to clean up the interior space, find new spatial and functional links and create an environment that would respond to the needs of the eclectic life of a young multi-member family. The PHC Software head-office building is located at Taguspark, a technology office park, in Oeiras Valley, close to Lisbon.  With an area of 4,000m2, the building's facade reveals two distinct layers that explore the balance between the opaque and the transparent. The new impetus for the Frac Centre-Val de Loire Biennale consists of thinking of the event as a territorial action, calling for the relocation of the Biennale itself to a regional site, as opposed to “simple” circulation or movement of works.
