Set in an unspoiled wilderness, Son Blanc invents a new notion of travel. Set in the heart of a renovated traditional farmhouse, the project invites visitors to a unique immersive experience. Radical Rituals: Studio forty five degrees Searches for Local Space-Making Practices Across Europe

Hình ảnh
When talking about space-making practices, architects and urban planners are usually thinking about participatory planning and collaborative processes, often overlooking the ways in which the communities themselves can become their own agents of change. As the people poses an intimate knowledge of not only their environment, but also of social and cultural norms, the needs of their communities and latent opportunities within their surroundings, they are often the ones initiating actions, supporting their peers and contributing positively to their locality. Research-focused office forty five degrees set out to explore these grass-roots initiatives, to meet the locals and gather their stories in an effort to gain a better understanding of the complex and diverse cultural territories across Europe. Their journey, organized under the “Radical Rituals” project, follows the 45°N parallel line that transverses Europe from East to West. The office has been selected as part of ArchDaily's 2...

Cultural Architecture in India: In Conversation with Hundredhands and Mathew and Ghosh Architects

Hình ảnh
India hosts a multitude of museums, art galleries, public libraries, theaters, and heritage centers. Nevertheless, many of these structures remain abandoned and fossilized like the artifacts they intend to present and protect. The development of cultural infrastructure in India has historically been a government endeavor, often resulting in a state of stagnation. The past two decades have seen a noticeable shift in the country’s cultural landscape. Increased interest from private institutions has paved the way for plenty of cultural projects to be initiated, usually in partnership with city authorities. These contemporary projects aim to celebrate the richness of India’s historical and contemporary culture, becoming prize destinations for the rising middle class. http://dlvr.it/Sv8GCK

Materials That Define the Contemporary Mexican Architectural Aesthetic

Hình ảnh
From the pre-Columbian period of the Americas –during which cultures such as the Olmec, Maya, Purepecha, and Mexica (Aztec) thrived– to the modern era where architecture has been influenced by social movements and even natural disasters, Mexican architecture showcases a valuable architectural expression, with its own unique voice and distinctive characteristics. Nobel Literature Laureate Octavio Paz argued that architecture is an incorruptible witness to history. Likewise, the materials used to shape it have acted as protagonists of that history, enduring in many cases over time and evolving thanks to the generations of architects who have contributed to it, from different perspectives. http://dlvr.it/Sv2zh0

Apartment Renovation in Sants / midori arquitectura

Hình ảnh
The intervention consists of the refurbishment of a dwelling in a century-old residential building in the Sants district, in Barcelona. The flat was in a bad condition, after many years of poor maintenance, with outdated facilities and structural pathologies that had worsened over the years, and a very unfortunate distribution, with a long corridor that widened creating a space with no defined use, two interior rooms with no natural lighting or ventilation, and one room accessed through another. The proposal, therefore, aims to improve these conditions, and to highlight the home’s own elements that make it distinctive. http://dlvr.it/StxTqJ

Beyond Reinforcement: Exploring Creative Uses for Steel Rebars

Hình ảnh
Concrete has enormous resistance to compressive stress, but it is a fragile material in terms of tension, which occurs when forces are applied in opposite directions of a structure, tending to separate the parts. This is why the incorporation of steel into concrete –which provides high levels of strength when stretched– has made so-called reinforced concrete the world's most widely used construction method. In other words, reinforced concrete combines the intrinsic advantages of its two components (concrete and steel reinforcement) to produce an extremely robust, versatile, and practical material. These steel reinforcements, in addition to reinforcing concrete, can also be used in art installations, facades, and even interiors. http://dlvr.it/StjTF6

Color Psychology in Retail Design: From Establishing Brand Identity to Influencing Customer Behavior

Hình ảnh
In the world of retail, competition is fierce. Brands find themselves in pursuit of distinguishing their presence and developing intimate connections with their customers. Amidst the array of products they offer, thoughtful brands recognize the value of curating immersive retail environments that empathize with the core of consumers' sentiments and desires. In retail design, color stands as a powerful instrument that affords brands the means to articulate their values, evoke emotions, and carve memorable shopping experiences into the minds of their patrons. Color transforms retail centers into more than spaces for transactions - it positions strategic interior design as a marketing tool to attract and retain customers. http://dlvr.it/Stg120

The HIÊN House / Winhouse Architecture

Hình ảnh
The HIÊN is located in a newly-developed suburban area of Danang City, in which you can enjoy a panoramic view of the picturesque Han River. This home is a new place where a 3-generation family enjoys a cozy life together. Woodworking is their traditional profession, which has been passed down through generations, and it serves as the main inspiration for choosing wood as the primary material for this project. This decision not only provides comfort and nostalgia but also maximizes cost savings, as the homeowners themselves participate in the woodworking process for the construction. http://dlvr.it/StLcSr

Hernández House / Langarita Navarro Arquitectos

Hình ảnh
The developments proliferating on the outskirts of Madrid, in wastelands and brownfields surrounding the city, show urban planning that is completely indifferent towards the landscape and any kind of cohabitation with nature. Broadly speaking, strict planning regulations have resulted in plots built to the brim and surrounded by a narrow strip of garden unlikely to thrive. http://dlvr.it/StJ5Nz

The Tropical Architecture of Monsoon Asia

Hình ảnh
Tropical architecture, a term widely used in architectural discourse, lacks a consistent definition. The adjective ‘tropical’ relates to the zone between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, which covers more than 40% of the earth’s surface. Heat is possibly the only shared characteristic of this belt. The tropical zone holds a range of climates from arid to wet, as well as a variety of geographic, social, and economic contexts. Unlike in temperate or arctic zones, a single umbrella term is used to describe the architecture of the tropics.  http://dlvr.it/StGFlz
