Design Background. The Small Wild Goose Pagoda in Xi’an was built in the Jinglong period of the Tang Dynasty. The thousand-year-old pagoda records the cultural memory of Chang’an City. However, the area where it is located has gradually declined from the historically prosperous core of the Tang Dynasty capital to an old urban area that is not in harmony with the development of surrounding modern communities. Therefore, how to balance urban development, urban regeneration, and the protection of historical and cultural heritage has become the first priority of design. http://dlvr.it/SS4x6M

The site is spectacular, a steep north-facing hillside with unobstructed views of the mountains beyond and a 180- degree panorama from the Hollywood sign in the east to the Burbank airport in the west. Building on this site, long considered unbuildable, presented two challenges: first, to minimize the impact of the house on the landscape, and second, to create a sufficient flat area to be comfortable for outdoor activities. http://dlvr.it/SS468J

House Privada Sierra Madre, a one-family house in the center of San Pedro Garza Garcia, in the Monterrey Metropolitan Area in Mexico, seeks to ingrate itself in the surrounding built context, as well as the actual social fabric. Casco Urbano, the original center of this municipality, is a vibrant neighborhood, with an interesting mixture of housing and small commerce; it is near Via Libre, a street complete with bike lanes and protected sidewalks and crossings for pedestrians; located half a block away from a public transport station, and just a couple of blocks away from parks and renovated public spaces. http://dlvr.it/SS1jBg

Darfo is a thermal resort in the lower Camonica Valley, surrounded by a beautiful mountain range and internationally known for its thermal baths. Whether it is a small balcony, access to green space or a private garden, the outdoor space has become a privilege for many, especially upon the dawn of the Covid-19 pandemic and the multiple lock down periods that followed. Green space in the city is constantly under threat, particularly since governments seek to increase housing densities in order to feed a growing demand for suburban development. As a result, the garden and access to green/outdoor spaces has decreased in recent times, as priorities lie in housing as many as possible, often with disregard to beneficial features such as access to outdoor areas in residential developments. http://dlvr.it/SS11FR

The campus of St Hilda’s College in Oxford has been reworked to include a new entrance sequence, Anniversary Building and Pavilion, all set in a reimagined landscape. The Anniversary Building defines the boundary of the College, strengthens the street scene on Cowley Place, and creates enclosure to the tranquil gardens within the College, whilst the Pavilion nestles on the edge of the River Cherwell within this verdant riverside setting. http://dlvr.it/SS11Cr

La Nave is a multipurpose pavilion located on a property of more than 7 hectares belonging to the RJG Group, a company linked to civil works, architecture, and agricultural development, in the city of Pérez. http://dlvr.it/SS0Lzb

The project, located in the Parc de Montjoie in the centre of the town of Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire, comprises 5 nursery classes, 8 elementary classes, an after‑school facility, a catering unit and a sports facility designed for pupils and associations. http://dlvr.it/SRzChJ

The pre-existing space was a heavily compartmentalized flat with 9 “rooms” distributed in only 100m². Built in the late fifties by the union group of architects (lead by Moreno Barberá, and composed among others, by Cano Lasso, De la Joya, or Benlloch La Roda), the 15-story tower-block crowns the beginning of the current urban-park triumph “Madrid Río”. The tower, located in a very important limit for the city, is part of the “Colonia de San Antonio”, an urban experiment, forgotten nowadays, that provided an answer to a linear urban island surrounded by the Casa de Campo (a vast urban forest), the M-30 (urban motorway), the river and the city center. The urban proposal, inherited from the modern movement, spread out along the river several building typologies, mixing natural and constructed areas with an assortment of public services… creating a city and allowing the area to survive as a neighborhood nowadays. http://dlvr.it/SRym10

The architect Vicenç Mulet has recently completed a residential project on his native island, Mallorca. Connoisseur of the particularities of the place, Mulet has designed a house that pays homage to Mediterranean and Majorcan construction. Ca n'Uli is a house designed on a human scale, an intimate space, with a deliberately austere appearance and, above all, easy to inhabit. From the outside, you can appreciate the simplicity of the lines and a precise solution to maintain privacy. Inside, the rooms are connected as a single space around a central courtyard. Monumental Wonders explores the potential of marble in furniture and interior design both as a raw and a recycled material. The Gray Niva Pool House is a year-round play, swim, exercise, and recreational sanctuary built in Accord, NY. While technically a natatorium (a structure built around – not adjacent to – a pool, Gray Niva really functions as both an indoor and outdoor pool. http://dlvr.it/SRvRHl

Marina and Roberto's 128 m2 house is located within a private neighborhood that is in the process of being developed, in the Bermejo area, in the municipality of Guaymallén, Mendoza. The site stands out for its natural environment, its cobblestone streets, and the distance between the houses as a result of the size of its lots. The Huarpes called the lands of Bermejo "Cuascarile" which is equivalent to "Silent Green". And the CRM House has as its premise to continue with that tranquility and integration between living and green space. The project seeks to positively take the data from the environment and provide a solution considering the strong economic limitation. Therefore, the proposal consists of a single-story house with low ceilings and raw finishes. A square matrix is ​​defined, and brick is used as a construction material given that Bermejo is where most of the brick kilns of the Province of Mendoza are based. http://dlvr.it/SRtv03

On the edge of the new housing district ‘Stationskwartier’ in Kampen, BURO S ARCHITECTS designed this accommodation for a young and growing dental practice. With most of the architecture in this new district being of rather traditional design, it was the client’s wish as well as a municipal requirement to add a new building that would stand out as a dynamic, striking volume, easy to recognize both from the residential area and the nearby highway. Additionally, the client wanted the building to convey the values and mission of their practice, where patients’ comfort and wellbeing always come first. The new building of the Museum of Ethnography in Budapest City Park (Városliget) was opened (on 23/05/2022). The multiple-award-winning new museum building – which is part of Europe’s largest urban-cultural development called Liget Budapest Project - designed by FERENCZ, Marcel; Napur Architect - has dynamic yet simple lines simultaneously harmonized with the park environment and communicating with the surrounding urban area. The City Park (Városliget) is a familiar venue for the Museum of Ethnography: its collection debuted here at the 1896 Millennium Exhibition. Gagosian Gallery Paris has announced an exhibition dedicated to Christo, presented in collaboration with the artist’s estate. Featuring sculptures made in Paris between 1958 and 1963, the exhibition features the earliest examples of Christo’s wrapped objects and barrel structures, many of which are exhibited for the first time, along with key works from his rarely shown Surfaces d’Empaquetage and Cratères series. In Asian culture, filial piety is a beautiful custom. This project is such an example of it. The house was built by the children for their parents to enjoy old age and gardening. Because it is a house for the elderly, the design aims to be minimalist, convenient, and bring a cozy rustic feel. Upon becoming a sovereign country, free from British Rule, the people of India found themselves faced with questions they had never needed to answer before. Coming from different cultures and origins, the citizens began to wonder what post-independence India would stand for. The nation-builders now had the choice to carve out their own future, along with the responsibility to reclaim its identity - but what was India's identity? Was it the temples and huts of the indigenous folk, the lofty palaces of the Mughal era, or the debris of British rule? The architectural intervention in the Ancestral Church of Fraião, in Braga, Portugal, is an intervention of analysis and decision. An analysis of the degradation state of the latest interventions carried out at the beginning of the 20th century. Participatory design is a democratic process that aims to offer equal input for all stakeholders, with a particular focus on the users, not usually involved directly in the traditional method of spatial creation. The idea is based on the argument that engaging the user in the process of designing spaces can have a positive impact on the reception of those spaces. Placed on a lot with access from two streets, the building splits into two bodies around a patio that is almost 400 m2, flanked by the wide and landscaped access hallways to the apartments, which become metaphors for sidewalks on high, looking over the park placed on the +6.50 level, with benches and trees. http://dlvr.it/SRhQ04

The plot R11 is located at the northern end of the Highrise Village, bordering the park Cascina Merlata, the largest housing development in Europe. Keelung, the northmost city on Taiwan's main island, is one of the earliest developed cities in northern Taiwan. It is a mountainous and rainy harbor city with more than 90% hills. Those coastal areas and steep hills form a beautiful natural landscape in the city yet are architecturally challenging sites. The climate and landscape result in flood planes in lower areas and landslides in the mountainous areas. Architecture, with all its practitioners, academics, and theorists, have long been exploring utopic ideas with hopes of turning them into something concrete for the sake of a better world. But as the world heads towards an even greater polarization than it currently has, the architecture practice found itself having to adapt to the current systems of the planet, constrained by its ever-growing conditions. Slowly, practitioners realized that utopia can not truly be seen as the ideal solution, and needed to be readapted or morphed with other concepts for it to actually work. Cukrarna is a former sugar refinery, built in 1828 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. During its' two-hundred-year history, it was a sugar refinery, destroyed in a disastrous fire, and later a tobacco factory, a textile factory, a military barracks, and a homeless shelter. It was also a temporary home for many poets and writers from Slovenia's Modern period, which was key to establishing Slovenia as an independent nation. Due to its' significance as a monument of 19th-century industry, it has been listed as a protected building, and due to its rich history, it is firmly anchored in the Slovenian nations' subconscious as a cultural symbol. http://dlvr.it/SRb8Bj
